Onus (Psalm 55: 1-23)

Good morning all,

The word of the day is “onus.” I can always turn to the Psalms, no matter what my mood might be.  Somewhere in there one of those writers was going through something very similar to the stuff that I encounter.  Whether they are feeling good and praising God, or even feeling down and blaming him for something or other, I always find refuge in that book.  I really like what David has to say to God in this Psalm.  The whole thing is pretty cool, but the first line is just very forthright with his maker.

Listen to my prayer, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me.
~Ps 55:1

My question is: what situation are you in right now?  You might be up, or you might be down.  But my guess is that God is speaking to you.  My prayer is that you open your heart and listen for what he has to say.  Much of the time we like to put the onus, or blame, on God when we don't see things pan out the way that we think they should.  But if we just sit back for a second, take a deep breath, and let him speak than he usually does.  Take courage and the fact that God loves you and will answer your prayers.  Not in your time, but his.

Praying for you,

MO
