Torpid (Psalm 119:139)

Good morning all,

The word of the day is “torpid.” The longest psalm in the Bible is Psalm 119. I remember learning this fun fact when I was in high school. It was one of those cool tidbits that your youth pastor gives you when you don't know very much about the Bible and all of a sudden you think you are an expert. Today's verse and word have a lot to do with that feeling even way back when. The psalmist says here that God's word is so unbelievable that it takes up every part of his being.

My zeal consumes me, because my foes forget your words.
~Ps. 119:139

Another translation reads that God's word is so awesome that it wears him out. My question for you is: does God's word consume you to the point where it overwhelms you? If God does not continually throw you off because of its incredible nature then I would encourage you to change stuff up a bit. Ask somebody that you trust to help you read through the word. Also, I know that having a mentor in my life for pretty much all of my Christian days has been very helpful. My prayer is that God's word consumes you to the point where it never becomes torpid, or sluggish, but that others see your zeal for God and want to be like you.

Praying for you,

Mo
