Pabulum (Psalm 1:6)

Good morning all,

The word of the day is “pabulum.”  The Bible talks a lot about what it means for us to be spiritually nourished.  Each of us has a certain level of understanding of the word of God, depending on how much time we put forth learning it.  I remember when I went to seminary, which is a school for pastors, I learned an entirely new understanding of God’s word. Well, in he first psalm God really lays this out pretty good.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous..” ~Ps. 1:1-6

My question is: from where do you find your counsel?  There is so much out there today that wants to influence you.  With all of the social media, TV shows, religions, and everything else, you have to choose what is going to speak into your life.  My prayer is that you find people who are wiser than you, and read things – that provide proper written pabulum – that are smarter than you.  If we allow ourselves to learn from the best, then one day we may just have the opportunity to be in that echelon.  And, if we ever get there, it’s not for our praise, but our obedience and service to both God and humans.

Praying for you,
