Discipline (Hebrews 12:9-11)

Good morning all,

The word of the day is “discipline.” The writer of Hebrews was trying to make a point here about discipline, and following God's law. Submitting to divine discipline is not always what we would like to do. However, doesn't it always seem to come back around to remind us why it is good to be under that law? Reading passages like this always encourages me, because it reminds me that God's people have been dealing with the same kind of stuff for a lot of years now.

“Moreover, we had human parents to discipline us, and we respected them. Should we not be even more willing to be subject to the Father of spirits and live?”
~Heb. 12:9

My question is: what are the disciplines that you live by? How does God fit into these plans? Being in the military is one of the best things that could have ever happened to me. I get to see some of the most disciplined people that I will ever meet. Discipline is an important part of the Armed Forces because when the going gets tough, things need to get done. And they just don't need to get done, but they need to get done correctly. As a part of God's family, you have chosen to take on the responsibility of doing things right. There are a lot of people out there that need to hear the word, and you are the one to bring it to them. It's time to implement some discipline in your life. And, if you already have the discipline you need to keep it up as an example to others. Give people a reason to believe.

Praying for you,

mo
