Restive (John 6:60-70)

Good morning all,

The word of the day is “restive.”  The more I read the Bible I understand that Jesus had a pretty tough time in his ministry. This is pretty humbling because much of the time we think that we've got a tough life, but in all reality it's pretty simple. However, Jesus came to many points in his ministry where people questioned what he was doing. At one point even, there were a bunch of people that wanted to leave. After these people did so he asked a question to the others who were still there…

From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him. “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.
~Jn. 6:66-67

As you can see, this is a pretty important part of Jesus ministry. My question is: can you imagine teaching a bunch of people and investing in them for such a long time and then they just give up on you? Some of us have experienced that our lives with friends, or even family. My prayer for you today is that you do not become restive, or unwilling to go on, in your relationship with the Savior. Fads will come and go, but Jesus is always there. He is a constant in our lives. He is always there for us, and so we should always be there for him.

Praying for you,

mo
